Haunting Outdoor Halloween Decoration Ideas
While fun and freaky, Halloween outdoor decor can very easily turn into a hodgepodge of characters and feel a little haphazard. (We all have that one neighbor with the ever-growing garden of inflatables.)
For this article, we focused on centerpieces that you can build a theme around for those who prefer a curated design. Each of these ideas is budget-friendly and can hold their own as a single decoration, but they are also easy to build around if you want to go big!
1. Creepy Cowboy Campground
How cute are these creepy cowhands?! This kit from Oriental Trading is available for $219. The kit includes three cowboys, the campfire, felt hats, and 12 bandanas. You’ll have to find your own hay bails, but you can easily snag those at your nearest Tractor Supply Co. or online from Home Depot.
2. Bathing Boo-ty
Sticking with the skeletons for a minute, this bathing beauty created by Trendy Tree is an easy DIY centerpiece for a fun and funky scheme. It’s created from simple Halloween decor elements that you can grab at Dollar General or your nearest craft store. You’ll need some iridescent Christmas ornaments, basic cotton batting, and a tin bucket or big black plastic tub. If you’ve got a big porch, this idea is perfect, but it also works well in a flower bed.
3. Milky Monsters
This easy DIY tutorial from iSaveA2Z is a no-brainer, especially for families who go through a lot of milk. You need empty milk jugs, some simple string lights, and a Sharpie or other permanent marker. These cuties can be hung as porch garland, or when lining your sidewalk, they happily escort little princesses and superheroes to your front door! This disposable Halloween decor idea is also a great way to reduce waste and reuse plastic jugs!
4. Ring Around the Cauldron
These illuminated ladies come from Grandin Road in a set of three for $129. The pile of pumpkins is cool, but it would look just as good surrounding a black cauldron. If you’re looking for a witch-centered theme, these make a big impact for a modest price.
5. Pure-ly Pumpkin
If skeletons, ghosts, and covens aren’t quite to your taste, you can still go all out on your Halloween yard decorations. These little cuties hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil.
Pumpkins are one of the most traditional fall porch ideas, while Jack-O-Lanterns are quintessentially Halloween. What we love about this stack is that you can use it for the full fall season. Whether you use plastic ones or carve them yourself, once Halloween is over, you can pop off the arms, turn them around where the faces don’t show, and keep them on display until Thanksgiving!
6. A Sticky Situation
When it comes to Amazon Halloween decorations, nothing gives you a bigger bang for your buck than this giant spider and its web of terror. The kit is less than $15 and comes with 5-yard stakes, one gutter brace, a strong polyester web, and a large spider with adjustable legs. The legs are engineered so that the spider can also hang on your roof or the corner of your home.
7. A Stroll Through Candyland
While most Halloween decor is orange-led, nobody says pink can’t be your dominant color! In fact, why not create an explosion of color, complete with a rainbow road? After all, nothing is more reminiscent of Halloween than candy! This adorable trunk-or-treat is totally DIY and made from household objects and dollar-store finds.
8. A Beatles Bash
You can’t get more Rock-n-roll than the Beatles, and we love this recreation of the Abbey Rd Album cover. Pair it with gravestones of other rock and roll legends, a smoke machine, and a Spotify list of rocking tunes! Or…just put a giant poster of Ozzy’s face in the yard and you’ve won Halloween.
9. Full Moon Fun
If you prefer a little humor in your holiday, this budget-friendly outdoor Halloween decor hits the nail on the head. If nothing else, you’ll give the neighbors a daily laugh!
10. Creepy Carn-evil
Perhaps the creepiest thing on the planet…aside from dolls…is clowns. They’re just terrifying, and we can’t think of a more demented or spine-tingling outdoor Halloween decor theme than a haunted carnival. This banner is available on Amazon and makes a great photo prop or porch hanging to build your yard decorations around.
We also love this idea of turning your front door into a haunted ticket booth! Both banners are available on Amazon for less than $20 each.
Where to Find the Best Outdoor Halloween Decorations
If you love to create your own decorations, we are all for it! However, if you’re a bit strapped for time this year, you can find amazing premade Halloween decor at a host of websites for a fair price. Balsam Hill, Grandin Road, Oriental Trading, Halloween Express, and of course, Amazon all have cute outdoor Halloween decoration ideas for a good price.
Time to Decorate!
Halloween is a time to let loose and have some fun on your lawn. Whether your intention is to scare the daylights out of trick-or-treaters, express your artistic creativity, or put a smile on your neighbors’ faces, these outdoor Halloween decoration ideas fit the bill.
