Artists aren’t known for being the most organized or tidy crew. Of course, there are exceptions, but on the whole, we’re creative and spontaneous. Orderly isn’t a typical adjective on our resume. However, having a relatively clean and visually appealing space can help us creatives stay on track, finish projects more quickly, keep track of inventory, and clear our minds to focus on creating. With that thought in mind, we’re on the hunt for the best craft supplies organizer out there! Let’s go!
Are You A Grubby Genius? Let Us Help!
If you struggle with organizing craft supplies and never know what you have, we’ve got a fabulous solution. Our resident our guru, Nerissa, has developed a lifesaver! Her Acrylic Pouring Supply and Painting Inventory System includes inventory sheets, a supplies spreadsheet, and paint labels. The system has everything you need to elevate your art room to a whole new level!
Clear Space, Clear Mind
I don’t know about you, but if my space is visually distracting, I do have more trouble making art. It’s like the space is a reflection of my cluttered mind, or vice versa. I don’t know, but my hands craft better when my space looks pretty! Plus, in this economy, I can’t afford to buy duplicates of supplies that I most likely already have in a pile somewhere. Therefore, I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect new craft supplies organizer. Here are a few of my favorite finds!
1. Ackitry Large Craft Cabinet
I love this craft room storage solution because it’s extremely versatile. The pegboard top includes containers for paintbrushes, pencils, etc. The table top gives me a place for drafting or painting small canvases, and there are even rods that could be used as a paper towel holder, for fabric bolts, or for small canvas rolls! This storage idea works for painters, jewelry makers, or seamstresses. Check it out on Wayfair!
2. Crea Craft Table
If you prefer a bit more space to work, or you like to encircle your painting as you go, this large-capacity cubby organizer is perfect! I particularly like this craft supplies organizer because it gives me the option to display more beautiful craft supplies and toss the uglier stuff in a drawer or cubby. If your craft space is large enough for a walk-around table, this one would work great! Find it on Wayfair!
3. Global Industrial Bin Cabinet
Okay, this one is not the cutest, but typically craft rooms have tons of small things to organize like jewelry elements, brushes, thread spools, or mosaic tiles. I can’t think of a better way to close the door on the clutter! This would also be a great way to organize kids crafts, as they can easily get into the lower levels and find their things.
4. Mercilass Multifunction Dreambox
Got a small room challenge? This baby is the mother of all tiny-space craft storage solutions. Whether you’re a professional organizer or a total mess, you’ll be amazed by this space-saving option.
Not only is it very affordable, but the company offers a fair refund policy, and (unlike a certain Swedish furniture company we will leave unnamed) they build it for you. You just need to insert the shelves in the spot you want. It comes with a fold-out table, boasts an incredibly large capacity, and includes 12 tool hooks, 4 metal rods, and 16 clear jars. Find it on Mercilass!
5. Plaid Arts and Crafts 2 oz Paint Bottle Rotational Organizer
Now, we head over to Walmart for a table-top organizer that’s just fun! This little guy won’t store all your craft supplies for sure, but it does give a unique way to display and keep your favorite colors handy. The spinning wheel holds 24 two-ounce acrylic paint bottles. When organized by shade, it’s a simple way to give you craft space color and some visually appealing organization at the same time.
6. DIY Paint Bottle Storage
There are a million storage solutions out there to organize craft paint, but if you’re looking for a wall option that is both appealing and functional, consider simple DIY shelves or premade spice racks. By hanging your spice racks in a vertical pattern, even a small wall space can yield maximum storage.
7. GAMENOTE Brush Cleaner
When organizing craft supplies, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room…the dirty paintbrush! If you’re anything like me, you have ten paintbrushes, wrapped in saran wrap or a Walmart sack, that you forgot about, and they’re now hard as a rock. This little guy has been a brush savior for me. Not only does it keep my brushes clean while I’m working, but when I neglect to clean up, at least my brushes are in water. Will they eventually rust around the ring? Probably, but the bristles are safe!
I really like this one because it features a paintbrush holder for brushes of multiple sizes. It has separate chambers for clean and dirty water or for water and mineral spirits. It also has a textured bottom to help clean brushes more efficiently. Finally, it features a tight lid and a handle for easy portability. It’s great!
Time for Some Craft Room Organization!
Alright creatives, now that you have a few fabulous craft storage options, get busy organizing that space. There’s no perfect craft supplies organizer for everyone.
