The Problem
I would like to introduce you to my dining room table. I use that term extremely loosely at this point. This is the Ikea special that I purchased when I first moved out just under 10 years ago. It has been through a couple moves, a marriage, a couple kids, and nearly every project that I have done. Although it has served its purpose, it has certainly seen better days.
My Find
Cue my desire for a new, “proper” dining room table. When we moved into our new home, I decided that I wanted a nice dining room table to seat the family around. But have you seen the price of those?! That certainly wasn’t in our budget. So on one of my regular trips to the local Habistore, they were having a clearance sales on dining sets, and I picked up six chairs and a table with a leaf for $35. Nevermind the fact that they were from the ’70s. I could fix that…right?
Current Status
As it tends to, life happened, and I have taken way too long to get this project done. So I’ve set a goal to have this project done by Christmas this year…in a month. It won’t be easy, but I think that if I really buckle down and work on it consistently, I should be able to do it.
In my next few posts, I will chronicle what I’ve done so far, the good and the bad, and what I’m working on now. Stay tuned!
